About Me
Sanjay Moktan is a community leader and Buddhist practitioner dedicated to social development and cultural preservation.
He began his journey with the Tamang Youth Association in Kalimpong, where he served as General Secretary and contributed to the movement that led to the recognition of the Tamang community as a Scheduled Tribe in 2002.
He later became a key figure in the West Bengal Tamang Development and Cultural Board, serving as Chairman from 2014 to 2024, leading initiatives focused on identity, welfare, and representation.
On the global stage, Sanjay serves as the Vice President of the World Alliance of Buddhists (WAB), promoting Buddhist philosophy and mindful living. His work is grounded in practice, shaped by intensive meditation training in Thailand.
He is also the General Secretary of Santiprajna, working towards establishing a meditation centre in West Bengal—creating spaces for reflection, learning, and inner balance.
Alongside this, he serves as the President of the youth wing of the United Buddhist Welfare Organization, continuing his work in community empowerment.
